Physical Examinations

Medical Examinations

MedCenter 100 performs a variety of occupational medical examinations, per company and regulatory standards, including the ADA, Department of Transportation, OSHA and applicable state regulations. MedCenter also performs physical examinations for Sports, Driver Permits, Healthcare physicals, Teacher certifications, and police and firefighter physicals.

Pre-Placement Physical Examinations evaluate prospective employees for medical conditions that could potentially interfere with the safe performance of their proposed job. The Examination includes a comprehensive review of personal, medical and occupational history, physical examination, vision testing (including near, far and color vision), and height, weight and blood pressure.

Department of Transportation Physicals are offered to drivers who require a commercial driver’s license. This examination is performed according to Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, 391.41 of the Federal Highway Administration and includes vision testing and a urinalysis.

Medical Surveillance Programs
MedCenter 100 offers a wide range of surveillance services designed to identify problems that may be occurring in the workplace that may require targeted prevention. Surveillance may be based on a single case, or sentinel event, but more typically involves screening results from a group of employees being evaluated to look for abnormal trends in health status.

These programs include but are not limited to Noise and Hearing Conservation, Respirator Clearance, Blood-borne Pathogens and Needle-stick Prevention, Hazmat physicals, Benzene, Heavy metals and monitoring for various other chemical and workplace exposures.

School Bus Physicals are performed in accordance with PA Department of Transportation Chapter 71. These physicals are for people who are driving School buses and other vehicles designed to transport a group of individuals. They include a job-specific physical examination, hearing and vision screens and a urinalysis.

Respirator Physicals are performed according to the requirements listed in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 which was revised in 1998 and specifies the “minimum requirements for a medical evaluation” for employees required to wear a respirator. It includes the Respirator Questionnaire, and a physical and PFT, if the medical provider deems it necessary.

Healthcare Physicals are performed for those working in all fields of healthcare, including inpatient and outpatient facilities, daycare centers and hospitals. As such, in addition to the physical exam, MedCenter offers screens for tuberculosis (PPD), and required vaccines such as Hepatitis A&B, measles, mumps, rubella, rubeola and titers.

Fit for Duty Evaluations are generally performed following a work or non-work-related injury or illness. The evaluation includes a physical examination, a review of the current job description, clearance from the treating provider and any other information that may contribute to determining a worker’ ability to return to work. Other screens and tests may be added as needed.

Executive Physicals are comprehensive age-specific examinations which may include x-rays, blood chemistries and other screens as indicated or requested. Specialist consultations are coordinated as appropriate. The individual receives a comprehensive summary of current health status with copies of all test results, and recommendations for follow up.
